With 9 million people in the city proper and over 20 million in the metro area, it is one of the world's largest, most densely populated urban areas. # Accommodations ## Where I've Stayed - [[Hilton Mexico City Reforma]] # Things to Do ## Things I've Done ### Museums - Museo Nacional de Antropología (The National Museum of Anthropology) - Museo Frida Kahlo - Soumaya Museum - Diego Rivera Mural Museum ### Cultural Sites - Teotihuicán - Metropolitan cathedral - Palacio des Belles Artes ### Monuments and Parks - Monumento a la Independencia (The Angel of Independence) - Zocalo - Monument to the Mexican revolution ### Events - Ballet Folklorico - Lucha Libre tour ### Shopping - [El Bazaar Sábado](https://www.elbazaarsabado.mx) - Cafebrería El Pendulo, Polanco # Food and Drink ## Restaurants I've Visited - [[Café de Tacuba]] - El Cardenal - Cafebrería El Pendulo, Polanco - Sanborns de los Azuelos - El Moro - Terraza Cha Cha Cha - Pit ## Restaurants to Visit - San Angel Inn # Tips, Tricks, and Resources - Tourist-friendy neighborhoods: - Historico Centro - Polanco - Roma Norte - Condesza - Coyoacán - San Angel # Thoughts and Observations The bottom line first is: We loved Mexico City. The art, the culture, the food, the people, the vibrant feeling of life in the city... we only scratched the surface in our five days there, and can't wait to go back and see more. Whatever conclusion you personally want to draw about Mexico City, you can probably find some validation for it. With over 20 million people in the metro area, the experience of the city will be as vast and diverse as its population. Is there poverty? Absolutely. Is there crime? Of course. Are there neighborhoods you should not go in as a non-native. You bet. Oh, and DO NOT drink the tap water and be careful of what you eat. On the other hand, my god the museums and public art and the history and music and the people... there is so much to delight in. --- **Relates to**: [[travel]]
