Content inventories are lists of content from a particular domain, usually organized by things like the content type and location. For example, an information architect might prepare to reorganize articles in a content management system. In order to understand what the new organization system should look like, and to ensure that all articles are accounted for, the IA would document all articles in an inventory, logging things like the title, location, current category, and so on.
